I now plan to use Henna (which is being mailed to me as we speak) to tell a story, the history of the orange. The henna design will begin inside the orange and spill out onto the white canvas. I plan to buy new oranges (the ones I have are a bit too ripe, now) to slice in half and hollow out. I will use traditional and contemporary henna symbols in my design (some of which I have drawn out and photographed). The orange in the first photo is on top of the two sizes of canvas I am considering. I have yet to decide which I will use, but I hope to buy larger (naval) oranges, which will mean the larger canvas will probably work better. The placement of the orange is still up in the air, but it will probably be close to a corner, but not as close as in the photo.
